December 13th:
MassCommute was thrilled to host its 1st Annual MassCommute TMA Holiday Party and Member Recognition Event at The Black Rose in Boston on December 13th. In addition to celebrating the season with our fellow TMAs and partners, the highlight of the evening was a presentation of the first ever MassCommute “TDM Champion” Awards. The TDM Champion Awards are a new program developed to recognize individuals at TMA member companies who have gone above and beyond at their workplace to create innovative commuter options programs and support their local TMA(s). Most importantly, it is our way of saying THANK YOU to the hard working professionals who make the work that we do both possible and successful!
*Congratulations to our 2016 TDM Champions:
Larry Brutti, Manager of Parking and Transportation at MIT (Charles River TMA member) received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his legacy of creating signature commuter choice programs at MIT (like the T pass subsidy) and supporting the EZ Ride shuttle and pivotal changes to campus parking requirements that lead to dramatic drops in drive alone commuting.
Stacey King, former TDM & Marketing Manager for Boston University (Allston Brighton TMA member) is an avid biker and participant in Allston Brighton TMA commuter programs. She fought for and helped implement a transit benefit program at BU where none existed before, successfully promoted carpooling and other HOV incentives at BU in response to a parking "crisis, and worked to get Allston Brighton TMA and better transportation info on to BU's HR welcome orientation. She's also planned commuter events such as fairs, guided bike rides and bike tune ups and attends all Allston Brighton TMA events and meetings.
Aaron Clausen, Planning Director for the City of Beverly is an active NSTMA Board Member, supporter and promoter of TMA initiatives like the MassCommute Bicycle Challenge, and helped the City of Beverly recently receive a Complete Streets grant from MassDOT. He's currently overseeing the City's application to establish a local bike share program and is active in the NSTMA.
